Our VisionThe Jerjoboch Learning Center's Vision is to create a permaculture legacy for our family, our community, our country, and our world. |
The Permaculture Prime Directive
"The only ethical decision is to take responsibility for our own existence and that of our children, MAKE IT NOW" Bill Mollison, Permaculture: A Designers Manual, 1989 |
Earth Care
This is the first of the three permaculture core ethics that David Holmgren and Bill Mollison chose because they were the core ethics of all of the longest-lasting civilizations. In following Earth Care, we acknowlege that all food, water, and shelter come from the earth and that we are responsible for those cycles within our bioregion.
|
People Care
People Care, the second ethic, recognizes that we are all connected and rely upon each other in families, in communities, and even strangers for our health and safety. We cannot form safe and strong communities in which to raise our families without this ethic.
|
Care of the Future
Future Care has also been referred to as Fair Share, Return of Surplus and Setting Limits to Population and consumption. Future Care implies saving, sharing, donating, perserving, setting limits, reducing consumption, and returning both natural and man-made capital to support preserving both socioeconomic and environmental systems on into the future.
